Country music star Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" proved to be an enormous hit for the Texan! Check it out here.

Country music star Miranda Lambert’s The House That Built Me song was written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin. The song was released in March 2010 as the third single from her third studio album, Revolution. Surprisingly enough, Blake Shelton was originally supposed to record the emotional tune but when Lambert heard it, she snagged the song for herself. At the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2011, Lambert won a Grammy for ‘Best Female Country Vocal Performance’ for the song.  Miranda’s “The House That Built Me” started a four-week run at #1 on the Country Music Billboard charts starting June 12, 2010.

In the realm of country music, certain songs have the power to transport us back to our most cherished memories and stir up a profound sense of nostalgia. Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me” is undoubtedly one of those timeless compositions that does just that.   The song’s relatability lies in its ability to transport listeners to their own childhood homes, where they, too, experienced moments of love, growth, and resilience.  Enjoy the touching music video and see the written lyrics below!

“The House That Built Me” Lyrics

I know they say you cant go home again.
I just had to come back one last time.
Ma’am I know you don’t know me from Adam.
But these handprints on the front steps are mine.
And up those stairs, in that little back bedroom
is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar.
And I bet you didn’t know under that live oak
my favorite dog is buried in the yard.
I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
Out here its like I’m someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear I’ll leave.
Won’t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.
Mama cut out pictures of houses for years.
From ‘Better Homes and Garden’ magazines.
Plans were drawn, concrete poured,
and nail by nail and board by board
Daddy gave life to mama’s dream.
I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
Out here its like I’m someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself.
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave.
Won’t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.
You leave home, you move on and you do the best you can.
I got lost in this whole world and forgot who I am.
I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
Out here its like I’m someone else,
I thought that maybe I could find myself.
If I could walk around I swear I’ll leave.
Won’t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

“The House That Built Me” is a timeless anthem that honors the importance of home, family, and the memories that continue to influence our lives long after we leave those cherished walls behind.
