Despite a turbulent 2017, country music duo Maddie & Tae are looking forward to a positive 2018 with new music on the way. More here!
2017 was a difficult year for country music duo Maddie & Tae. While working to complete their sophomore album, their world was rocked when the pair’s record label, Dot Records, closed its doors. Fortunately, Maddie & Tae were eventually signed to Universal Music Group and are hopeful for a better 2018.
In a new video for their fans, Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye addressed the roller coaster of emotions they’ve experienced over the last year.
“Initially, finding out we were gonna make that change — it was pretty scary, I’m not gonna lie,” Dye shared about the record label uncertainty. Added Marlow, “At the time, I was like, ‘Why is this happening? Our career is over; we’re never going to get to put out a new album.’ I felt horrible.”
For Marlow, the ups and downs of 2017 impacted her in a very real way.
“If I’m being honest, I went through a really, pretty tough depression after the label thing happened … I kind of always was the person that had a plan, had it figured out, and I never kind of been like dropped on my ass before,” Marlow candidly confessed. “That was really hard and my self worth was tied into it, my purpose, everything.”
The good news is Maddie & Tae appear to be out of the woods and are looking forward to sharing their new music in 2018.
“I would like to encourage you guys to have plans and goals going into 2018,” Dye shared at the close of the 10-minute video, “but if something comes up and your plans just kind of change a little bit … I can say to you guys that there’s a reason for that; there’s a reason why things happen.”
