[LISTEN] to Sturgill Simpson’s Cover of Nirvana’s “In Bloom”

Sturgill Simpson does his usual haunting rendition of an iconic Nirvana song...watch the performance and compare to the Nirvana version . . .

“In Bloom” was written by Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and was meant to be a jab at people that didn’t understand the band’s message. Perhaps Sturgill feels the same with his sometimes “missed by the masses” music.

Either way, it’s worth a listen! Click below:

Compare the cover performance to the Nirvana performance and check out the lyrics below:

In Bloom Lyrics:

Sell the kids for food
Weather changes moods
Spring is here again
Reproductive glands

Hey – he’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Don’t know what it means, when I say:

He’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Knows not what it means when I say ah…

We can have some more – nature is a whore
Bruises on the fruit – tender age in bloom

Hey – he’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Don’t know what it means, when I say:

He’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Knows not what it means when I say ah…

He’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Knows not what it means when I say:

He’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means

Knows not what it means [2x]
Knows not what it means when I say ah…
