Kix Brooks Turns Down Role on “Nashville”

A heavy touring schedule forced Kix Brooks to turn down a role on the popular country-music themed show "Nashville".

Fans of actor and musician Kix Brooks are disappointed after hearing he was forced to turn down a role on the hit-show “Nashville” because of prior concert commitments.

During a recent interview with ABC News Radio, Brooks revealed why the “Nashville” role wasn’t meant to be.

“They gave me a great opportunity,” Brooks began.

“Made me an offer to play a great part about a homeless person who had been in the music business and was kind of washed up. It was, like, six episodes, and I was just booked. I really, really wanted to do it, but it’s not like you can go cancel shows because you gotta do another one.”

The role he walked away from on the show was filled by Mykelti Williamson, who has appeared in films such as Forrest Gump and Con Air.

Luckily fans will get to see Brooks in another television role. He is hosting a new television show, ‘Steak Out With Kix Brooks,’ which follows his cross-country search for the best steak.

“There’s not really a good steak show out there, and, of course, steak and wine go good together,” he says, grinning.

“Steakhouses in the community sort of speak to the personality. Every small town and big town have their steakhouse, and they have their own personalities.”

Brooks’ will also join his former Brooks & Dunn partner Ronnie Dunn, along with Reba McEntire, in their own Las Vegas show. ‘Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas’ will debut in late June at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
