Kenny Chesney reunites with Grace Potter on the new single "Wild Child", which is featured on his album ‘The Big Revival.’
Kenny Chesney‘s latest release is reigning supreme as the most added song on country radio.
Chesney and Grace Potter previously teamed up on “You and Tequila,” a steamy Top 10 hit from Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey album. But while that song was all passion and lust, “Wild Child” is playful more than sexy.
Acoustically driven and mid-tempo, lofty harmonies describe an adventurous girl who expresses herself with strange clothes and loves all the bands you’ve never heard of but is really still a sweet, good girl at heart.
Chesney says that the lyrics basically describe all the women he’s ever been attracted to.
“Over the last several years, it seems like anytime anybody sings about a woman, she’s in cutoff jeans, drinking and on a tailgate — they objectify the hell out of them,” Chesney says.
“Twenty years ago, I might have written a song like that — I probably did. But I’m at a point where I want to say something different about women.”
On “Wild Child”, he paints a crystal-clear picture of the woman he’s describing:
Got a spirit that can’t be tamed / She’s a calico pony on an open plain … A kaleidoscope of colors / In her mind, child / A touch of crazy hides behind her wild smile / So simple / Yet experimental / Innocent but still a little wild child.
“Wild Child” is the third single from Chesney’s The Big Revival, and follows two Billboard country airplay chart toppers — “American Kids” and “Til It’s Gone”.
The Big Revival is available on iTunes and Amazon.
