Glen Campbell Alzheimer’s Battle Update

Country legend Glen Campbell has been bravely living with the impact of Alzheimer’s since being diagnosed in 2011...get the details here...

“Rhinestone Cowboy” Glen Campbell, 79, has been dealing with the awful impact of Alzheimer’s disease since 2011. Campbell’s wife of 34 years, Kim Woollen Campbell, let fans know in a public update that her dear husband is in Stage 7 of the disease and is no longer able to speak.

Sadly, Stage 7 is the final stage of Alzheimer’s disease. Patients with Stage 7 Alzheimer’s are nearing death and lose their ability to verbally communicate. In the final stages of the illness, individuals are completely dependent on caretakers to meet their basic needs.

Despite his dire health condition, Kim Campbell recently told Studio 10 Live that her husband is content and still appreciates the universal language of smiles and kisses. In late 2015, Glen was moved back home from his Tennessee memory care community to be with his family as he entered the final stage of the disease.

“Life’s made up of 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it,” Kim Campbell wisely explains. “Our family chose to rally together in love and laughter and to support one another and try to make the best of each day and cherish every moment that you have together.”

What a beautiful attitude to have as a family unit during such a trying time.
