The Chris Young Drowning song was released in 2019 for his upcoming album “Raised On Country”.  This song is a tear-jerker and is about dealing with the tragic loss of a loved one.  The track “Drowning” is the most emotional and clearly hits Young the hardest. Young co-wrote the song about his grief following the death of a friend. When he tried to play it on the Grand Ole Opry, he broke down and couldn’t finish the performance.  Chris shared this post from his live performance of “Drowning” at the Grand Ole Opry.

“I cried like a baby in the middle of my song,” Young admitted. “I didn’t mean to do that. I turned my back around to pull it back together and the audience stood up. I was like, ‘Nope, I’m toast.’”  Chris later appeared live on a SiriusXM show to discuss and perform the song.  Watch the video performance of “Drowning” below.

The Chris Young Drowning song focuses on the heartbreak felt when losing a loved one with lyrics of:  “I know you’re in a better place / One day I’ll see you again / But it’s killing me we can’t be face to face / I miss my best friend.” .  The lyrics to “Drowning” were co-written by Young, Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge.

In addition to the “Drowning” track, the upcoming “Raised on Country” album will also include collaborations with Kane Brown, Brad Paisley and Riley Green.  Young is currently on his Raised on Country Tour, where he is playing several of the largest venues of his career.
