The Chris Young Drowning song was released in 2019 for his upcoming album “Raised On Country”. This song is a tear-jerker and is about dealing with the tragic loss of a loved one. The track “Drowning” is the most emotional and clearly hits Young the hardest. Young co-wrote the song about his grief following the death of a friend. When he tried to play it on the Grand Ole Opry, he broke down and couldn’t finish the performance. Chris shared this post from his live performance of “Drowning” at the Grand Ole Opry.

Last week, I debuted my new tune “Drowning” at the @opry and broke down in the middle of it… since then so many people have shared stories of loved ones lost and how they have connected to this song. I want you guys to have this one, and make it your own, so I’m going to release it this Friday.
“I cried like a baby in the middle of my song,” Young admitted. “I didn’t mean to do that. I turned my back around to pull it back together and the audience stood up. I was like, ‘Nope, I’m toast.’” Chris later appeared live on a SiriusXM show to discuss and perform the song. Watch the video performance of “Drowning” below.
