Carrie Underwood Refused Oklahoma Hall of Fame Induction

Country music singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood will not be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame this week. More here.

Not only did country music superstar Carrie Underwood‘s hard fall last Friday prevent her being able to perform at Sunday night’s Country Rising benefit concert, it has also nixed her entry into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame this year!

According to NewsOk, the star will be unable to attend the 2017 induction ceremony on Thursday, November 16th due to her recovery from wrist surgery. To be inducted, she must be physically present at the event. Oddly enough, two members of the current class are being honored posthumously.

“First and foremost, we want Carrie Underwood to know our thoughts and prayers are with her during her recovery. She exemplifies the very definition of an Oklahoma Hall of Fame Honoree and we are certain that she will be considered for future induction,” Oklahoma Hall of Fame President and CEO Shannon L. Rich shared in a statement.

Although she won’t be inducted with the Oklahoma Hall of Fame’s 90th class, the country music hit-maker can be nominated again and considered for induction in the future. Since its founding in 1928, 683 individuals have been inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.

Although this news has to be a big bummer for the proud Oklahoman, she assures fans that she’s on the mend after breaking her wrist. The 34-year-old star sustained the injury after taking a hard fall on the stairs outside of her Tennessee home.

“I just wanted let everyone know that I’m doing great,” Underwood shared via Twitter on Tuesday. “Had surgery on my wrist yesterday & all went well…even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on…I’m so thankful for the doctors, nurses, family & friends who’ve been taking such great care of me.”

We are sure Carrie will be inducted into the HoF within the next couple of years. Enjoy her 2012 hit “Blown Away,” which mentions her home state in the lyrics below!

“Blown Away” Lyrics

Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Daddy was mean a old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
Shatter every window till it’s all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
Till there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, blown away
She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people called it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge
Shatter every window till it’s all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
Till there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, blown away
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
Shatter every window till it’s all blown away, (Blown away)
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away (blown away)
Till there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away
