12-Year Anniversary of Carrie Underwood’s American Idol Win

It has officially been 12 years since Carrie Underwood won the title of American Idol, but she still can't believe how much the show changed her life!

Carrie Underwood is by far one of the most successful American Idol winners to come out of all 15 seasons. Not only is she crushing the radio waves with repeated No. 1 hits since her win, but she also has her own clothing line, workouts, and NHL hubbie Mike Fisher. She won the crown 12 years ago, and she still can’t believe it! The “Dirty Laundry” singer celebrated the twelve-year anniversary of her win on social media.

On her Instagram page, Underwood posted several photos from her winning moment on May 25, 2005. In the caption, she says, “I’m still not sure how it all happened to me!” Her singing goals came true on that special day 12 years ago, and she is now living out her dream.

The Country superstar filled with emotion after hearing her name called as the winner of American Idol. She then sang her winning number for the last time on the American Idol stage.

Since winning season four of the singing competition in 2005, Underwood became one of Country music’s most successful artists. She released her debut album, Some Hearts, shortly after her win, and she set records with it. It became the fastest-selling debut Country album, best-selling Country album since 2003 and best-selling solo female debut album in Country music. She has also earned seven Grammy awards.

Underwood released four more albums since her debut: Carnival Ride (2007), Play On (2009), Blown Away (2012) and Storyteller (2015). Within her successful career, she has sold more than 65 million albums, and she has 24 No. 1 hits to her name!

Though her winning moment happened 12 years ago, Underwood could be returning to the American Idol stage. She is rumored to be in talks to join the American Idol revival as a judge. The series is coming back in March of 2018, and it will be on ABC this time around. Pop superstar Katy Perry is already confirmed as a judge for the show’s comeback. Fellow American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson was rumored to be returning to the show as well, instead is confirmed as being a coach on Season 14 of NBC’s The Voice.
