      1. Dean Dillon was born as Larry Dean Flynn on March 26, 1955 in Lake City, Tennessee
      2.  He started playing guitar at the age of 7. At the age of 15 he appeared in a local Knoxville, TN Variety Show called JIM CLAYTON’S STARTIME
      3. Dean became a successful American country musician and songwriter.
      4. Between 1982 and 1993, Dean recorded six studio albums on various labels, and charted several singles on the Billboard country charts.  As a recording artist between 1979 and 1983, Dillon charted eight times, including one top 30 hit, “I’m into the Bottle (To Get You out of My Mind)”.  Three of the songs reached the Top 30 on the country charts.

      6. Dean wrote the 1983 George Jones number 1 hit “Tennessee Whiskey”
      7. Since 1993, Dillon has continued to write hit songs for other artists, most notably George Strait, Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney
      8.  Dillon has composed or co-written 76 songs for George Strait, including 19 singles, 11 which went to number 1. Even in a career like Strait’s, the Dillon titles stand out including: “Marina del Rey”, “The Chair”, “I’ve Come to Expect it From You”, “Easy Come, Easy Go”, “She Let Herself Go”, and “The Best Day.”
      9. Dillon is the father of country music songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon, and the two often collaborate
      10. Dean Dillon created his own record label WildCatter Records, signing Sundance Head.  On January 25, 2019, their first album together, Stained Glass and Neon was released.
      11. In 2002, Dillon was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame
      12. In 2020, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
