“Came Here to Forget” is the first single from Shelton’s new album If I’m Honest, which will be released May 20th.
The song was not written by Shelton, although he does feel a close connection to it. He has already confirmed that this new album will be a reflection of the emotionally hard year he had in 2015.
“I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons … I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, and that’s put all I’ve gone through and put it into music, and I never felt more connected to a record before,” Shelton said.
“When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”
