Old Dominion skips the traditional country music video imagery— desolate dirt roads, bonfires by the lake, tipsy tailgate shenanigans— and instead head down to a skate park in their music video, “Snapback.”
In the splashy music video, the Virginia-based group haul their instruments to the fathoms of a skate bowl and start rocking out. Soon the musicians find themselves in the middle of a wild sing-a-long with a rambunctious bunch at a house party.
According to a blog post by the music group, “Snapback” is a slang term for baseball caps that can’t be found in Merriam-Webster or on Dictionary.com. The word’s ma can be found on UrbanDictionary.com. “Snapback” is “a relatively new name for it,” says Matthew Ramsey. “The first time I heard it, I didn’t know what it was. I forget how I found out, but then as soon as I [heard it], I started seeing ‘snapback’ on stickers on the bills of hats.” “It’s usually the hats that have a flat bill,” adds guitarist Brad Tursi. “They don’t bend them. It’s just kind of a certain style.”
