Joey Feek continues to dazzle us with her grit and positive nature!

All Joey Feek wants for Christmas is to experience the holiday season with her husband Rory, almost 2-year-old daughter Indiana, and stepdaughters Heidi and Hopie. Just when things were looking bleak, the talented country singer surprises us with her sheer determination.

With the help of her sister, Joey was able to leave the confines of her bedroom and join up with friends and family for over an hour of love and laughter. She also had enough energy to connect with her biggest fan, Indy.

“A few minutes later, my wife had slid from the couch to the floor and was able to be something for Indiana that she hadn’t been able be in weeks and weeks.
She was a mama again.”

It’s 60 and sunny outside today and even brighter inside.. Joey’s out of bed teaching signs to Indy on the floor.

Rory is faithfully blogging Joey’s day-to-day triumphs and challenges through his insightful This Life I Live blog. His latest entry titled “A Gift” will have you both cheering and sobbing at the same time. Be sure to take a minute to watch the video of Joey walking and engaging with her young daughter— it’s a beautiful sight that will lift your heart.

Witnessing Joey and Rory’s amazing faith and composure in the face of cancer’s terrible impact and the implications of in-home hospice care is truly something to behold. We can all learn something from this pair and their amazing support system. Watch the Grammy nominated duo sing “The Gift” at Music City Roots live exactly four years ago today below.

None of us has complete control over our own fate and Rory says it best with this seed of wisdom, “We’ve all heard it said that each day should be treated like a gift, because it’s really the only one we have….And that today is enough. It truly is a gift.”

Wise words to ponder upon as we swiftly move into the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

UPDATE:

In December, Joey + Rory got the thrilling news that they had been nominated for a Grammy in the ‘Best Country Duo / Group Performance’ category for their rendition of “If I Needed You.” The talented husband and wife duo are up against the Brothers Osborne; Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay; Little Big Town; and Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe in the category.

Unable to attend the ceremony, Rory Feek revealed that daughters Heidi and Hopie, along with manager Aaron, traveled to Los Angeles to represent the musicians at the GRAMMYs. Sadly, the duo did not receive the honor— Little Big Town won for their performance of “Girl Crush.” Instead of being surrounded by glitz and glamour, Joey and Rory watched the awards program with their daughter Indiana and Joey’s close family members from the comfort of her room. We hope the couple enjoyed their night despite the results!
