Watch Jason Isbell perform the "Saddest Song Ever" on the Late Show With Steve Colbert.

This Jason Isbell skit may be a joke but the song is indeed sad. We are talking “dying family dog” and “broke single mom” sad.

Americana singer Jason Isbell, known for writing and singing songs that tug at your emotions, stopped by The Late Show with Steven Colbert to star in a fake commercial for his “Saddest Song Ever”. He was born as Michael Jason Isbell on February 1, 1979.  Jason became a successful American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is known for his solo career, his work with the band The 400 Unit, and as a member of Drive-By Truckers for six years (from 2001 to 2007).  Isbell has won four Grammy Awards.
