Country music hit-maker George Strait swears by this unexpected hangover cure. Have any guesses? Learn what it is here...

Country music icon George Strait doesn’t indulge in alcohol much anymore, but he did share his tried and true hangover cure— a spicy bowl of traditional Mexican menudo soup.

“It’s tripe soup. It’s very, very tasty. When I happen to have the occasional hangover, which I try not do, if I can get some menudo that’s what I get,” Strait told The Daily Beast in a recent interview.

Yes, tripe is cow’s stomach. Hey, if it works…

As far has his favorite adult beverages go, he’s partial to his tequila brand Código 1530, Jack Daniels, and wine. Though the 65-year-old limits his drinking, he still keeps up one long-standing tradition with his band during shows.

“Before I go out I like to be as clear minded as I can. It’s hard enough to go out there and do a show without having a drink first,” Strait explained. “For years, it’s kind of been a tradition for me and the band, after the show before we go back out for an encore, we’ll celebrate with a shot of tequila and then we’ll go back out for the encore.”

If you want to try out King George’s unique hangover buster, you’re going to have to locate some interesting ingredients such as guajillo peppers, narrow bones, and cow’s feet just to name a few. Check out an authentic menudo recipe here.

Aside from dabbling in the tequila business, the Poteet, Texas native was recently named 2017’s State Musician by the Texas State Legislature.

“It’s a great honor for me to be selected as Texas State Musician of 2017 and join this very prestigious list of other honorees,” Strait stated about the honor. “I’m a very proud Texan and love to sing the praises of our great state every chance I get. Thank you very, very much.”
