Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood got the crowd going with this one!

While performing in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood took a moment to pay tribute to late musical legend Prince. The pair disclosed to the audience that they often select Prince songs during sound checks, but have never done so live.

After swapping her plaid shirt for a snazzy purple blazer with Garth’s help, Trisha started singing “Purple Rain” with help from her backup singers and the audience. Watch the moving tribute, complete with Prince’s signature symbol and rain, below.

What a nice way to honor an artist who had so much impact on artists spanning all genres. Yearwood was one of the first country music stars to express her shock via social media over news of Prince’s death at age 57 on April 21st.
