Dixie Chicks “Ready to Run” [Watch]

The Dixie Chicks “Ready to Run” was the lead-off single to Fly, and gained great commercial success. When Dixie Chicks had their breakthrough into country music scene in the late 1990’s, they immediately gained commercial success. The group had been active since the early 1990’s, but performed as a bluegrass group. The quartet became a trio in the late 1990’s when Natalie Maines joined the band as the lead singer, and their new sound plunged them into fame.

Fly was the second album released by Dixie Chicks after Maines joined the band, and like Wide Open Spaces, saw great success.

The song tells of a young woman who is “ready to run” from a wedding, so she can continue her life and be independent.
