The Make-A-Wish foundation helps children between the age of 2 and 18 years old fulfill a lifelong dream. Typically, the children suffer from life-threatening illnesses. Sometimes the children wish to travel to an exotic location while others choose to be a co-pilot for a day. In this case, Nathan chose to meet someone special…
Nathan is a 10-year-old boy from Naples, Florida who suffers from a rare condition known as Common Variable Immunodeficiency and Apraxia, which makes it difficult for him to communicate like other kids his age. He has been talking through a special machine for years and is now beginning to communicate via iPad. Though he is physically delayed, he is able to walk and fights hard to live an ordinary life. His favorite color is orange and his favorite meal is a delicious hamburger. Like a lot of kids his age, he enjoys Star Wars films and listening to music.
Nathan’s big dream is to become a radio DJ and his special wish was to travel to Nashville, Tennessee in order to meet radio personality Bobby Bones— who never fails to put a smile on Nathan’s face during his toughest days. Did Nathan receive his dream? Yes! Not only did he get to celebrate his 10th birthday by hanging out in the studio for a day with Bobby Bones, the crew also threw a surprise birthday party for him. He also received special messages from his two favorite country artists, Eric Church and Zac Brown. Zac Brown offered up a free meet-and-greet at any Zac Brown Band concert. As for Eric Church, Nathan received an autographed electric guitar plus a personalized Happy Birthday message.

As Bobby Bones explains in the video, it’s often very difficult for Nathan to receive his medication, but listening to The Bobby Bones Show and hearing his favorite songs makes Nathan’s life easier. We love that Nathan got to experience so much during his visit!
