Emerging country music artist Adam Wakefield's new “Blame It On Me" music video touts a veil of mystery--- How did he wrong his lady love?

New Hampshire native Adam Wakefield has certainly carved out his place in Nashville, Tennessee, but is far from the typical artist one may expect to find in Music City.

Embracing his piano skills and jazz influences, the singer-songwriter made the leap from the East Coast to Nashville. While playing a bluegrass gig downtown with his band one night, somebody from NBC’s The Voice approached him and asked him to audition for the show. The audition led to Adam being selected for Blake Shelton’s team and finishing the competition as The Voice Season 10 runner-up. His newfound name recognition was the catalyst for him to pursue a solo career.

Fast forward to present day and Wakefield’s latest tune “Blame It On Me” now has a music video to accompany it. Watch the mysterious visual story unfold below! Also be on the look out for his new EP, which is due out in July, and download “Blame It On Me” here!

“I love the way the video came together. I had an idea for it soon after we went in the studio and cut the song. It really helped being involved on the creative end as opposed to just picking a treatment for the video,” Adam exclusively shared with us about the music video’s creative process.

“Blame It On Me” Lyrics

Baby I’m tired of being gone
And I’m ready to come home
‘Cause any time away is way too long
And it don’t matter who was right and who was wrong

Blame it on me if it makes you feel better
Say I’m the reason that we couldn’t stay together
It’s my fault, say it’s all my fault
Blame it on me if it makes you feel right
Say I’m the reason that you can’t sleep at night
‘Cause it’s my fault, say it’s all my fault
Blame it on me

Tired of doing things that I regret
Saying things you can’t forget, no
I ain’t given up I’m giving in
And I don’t wanna fight now more
So open that door and let me in

Blame it on me if it makes you feel better
Say I’m the reason that we couldn’t stay together
It’s my fault, say it’s all my fault
Blame it on me if it makes you feel right
Say I’m the reason that you can’t sleep at night
‘Cause it’s my fault, say it’s all my fault
Blame it on me
